Golf Classic In Aid Of Local School

Posted Sep 10th 2015 in

The event attracted over 130 golfers to Wolf Run on Thursday, July 9th. As a result of the generosity of participants, sponsors and supporters this charity event raised $11,500 to support the Lunch Buddies program at Clarington Central Secondary School. The Lunch Buddies program is a peer mentoring club that matches students who have disabilities with caring students at lunchtime. Lunch Buddies was started in 1998 with just 2 students; now in its 17th year, the program regularly attracts over 120 students annually – making it the largest club at CCSS. All funds raised from the golf tournament go directly to support special events held throughout the school year for the students. Over the past 5 years the Woodland Homes Golf Classic has helped to raise $50,000 in support of local community programs making a difference in our community.
