Highway 401 runs through Central Ajax, while Highway 407 serves the North and Highway 412 is located to the east. GO Transit has a station located at the 401 interchange at Westney Road. From the local transit hub, commuters can take a GO Train and find themselves in Toronto in under an hour. More than 10 Durham Region Transit bus routes and two Go Bus routes also connect to the Ajax GO Station. While a car makes life easier in the Town of Ajax, the municipality prides itself on being a designated Bicycle Friendly Community. Some 140 kilometres of off-road trails, dedicated bike lanes and shared-use routes join together to create the Town of Ajax’s cycling network. Cycling culture is celebrated through annual events TrailFest, Bike Month, Bike to Work Day, and Bike to School Week.
