THE BASICS

Average Home Price: $740,000. Pickering is a suburb directly to the east of Toronto which borders Rouge National Urban Park and Ajax to the east. Like many of the cities beside Toronto it stretches north from the shores of Lake Ontario towards the farmland and green space of the Oak Ridges Moraine. This city is a popular destination for young families looking for recently built, detached homes with lots of space to live and grow. Residential lots tend to be large and built on relatively wide streets with driveways and garages.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Larger Accommodations

Due to the ease of commuting into Toronto’s downtown core this will be a popular destination for people currently renting who want to purchase property and move east into larger accommodations. Neighbourhoods in Pickering include Liverpool, Dunbarton, Highbush, Rougemount, Rouge Park, Rosebank, Town Centre, Village East, West Shore, Altona, and Woodlands. Many homes were built in the mid 1990s in well-planned neighbourhoods and have sizeable backyards as well as garages and driveways which can accommodate multiple vehicles. This makes Pickering a desirable destination for potential homeowners.

Condo Developments

New condo developments are booming as well. Among one of the developments is Universal Condos, just steps away from the Pickering GO Station, where residents can get to Union Station in downtown Toronto in 45 minutes.

GETTING AROUND TOWN

Commuting from Pickering to a variety of locations is very straightforward given the town’s excellent access to Highway 401 and 407 ETR. People who work in downtown Toronto can be at work in under 40 minutes by car. It is a short train ride from the Pickering GO Station to Union Station. Traveling to the other eastern suburbs of Toronto is easier given that commuters will be going against the flow of traffic. From the GO Station in Pickering to stations in Ajax, Whitby, or Oshawa, it is under a 25 minute ride. Each of these locations has sizeable parking lots which commuters often use for an entire day when traveling to other cities.

LOCAL FAVOURITES

The Baird Team recommends the Pickering Town Centre as a great destination shopping centre with a variety of stores for the whole family. For a great meal and an excellent patio with a view of Frenchman’s Bay, check our PORT. It’s recognized as the best restaurant experience in the East GTA with a strong foundation rooted in the “scratch cooking” that’s a strong part of the North American culinary explosion of the past decade. While down in Frenchman’s Bay, the local Marina has emerged as a leader in revitalizing the waterfront for the benefit of the larger community, and provides a sense of tranquility in an otherwise busy suburb. Lastly, for an experience inspired by the vibrancy and traditions of Mexico, Chúuk is certainly worth visiting.

TESTIMONIALS

  • We lost our Mom a year ago and Michael was the reality that sold the house to her. Michael and his Son Paul and Craig are absolutely all genuine and loved helping us through it all, a design team that was able to tackle all our needs, including Painting, Carpet, lighting, switches devices, countertops, door knobs and kitchen cabinet hardware, I swear when they finished I thought it was a brand new Home , they then put it on the Market , the offers just kept coming , they worked with us from many miles apart, and made it possible for us to sign contracts online and they always explained everything and the house sold so fast we couldn’t believe it. These guys are the real thing they are seasoned professionals, they know what it takes and how to do it , and they all have a great smile and that means so much to us very trustworthy and just need to say thank you so much Michael, Paul, Craig Your the best.

  • Michael showed up at my door this past fall in september 2019. He was selling my neighbors home (which he sold in under a month). I was really apprehensive because he had been the third realtor who had come to my home to offer services. At the time I knew I needed to sell but I wasn't ready. But he was patient and very kind about it. 2 months later I took a chance and contacted him and his team. He and Paul (his son) showed up that night (November 4) and instantly felt supported and helped. They helped with the Reno's, negotiating a new dishwasher, moving boxes and removing the junk out of my home. They painted, fixed the walls, cleaned and photographed all under one week. The house was ready by December 16 2019. Under the advice of Michael, We listed my home on january 6 and it was sold by january 20 2020 due to their strong work ethic and ability to showcase a good product. The Baird team goes the bat for you. You will NOT be disappointed and I'm glad God led me to chose them. They really made me feel a part of the Baird team!
